The Betrayal of Heroes: The 9/11 Relief Bill was Defeated

A bill to give medical support for the men and women of 9/11 who risked their lives was defeated in Congress on July 29, 2010.

It is further proof that all politicians are dipshits, both Republican and Democrat. The dipshittery fell into the usual partisan blocks that I will now explain.

Republican Dipshittery: Being mindless douche` bags.

So committed to the sound-bytes of fiscal responsibility, many Republicans balked at the idea of giving national heroes any money, whatsoever. Yes. Because if there is one group of people that deserves medical support, it sure isn't the heroes of 9/11. The next day, they began the fight to retain the Bush Tax cuts which cheat our nation out of $300 billion annually.

The Republicans also wanted an amendment to ensure that none of the funds potentially appropriated for these heroes go to illegal immigrants. Because even if a Mexican risked his life to save Americans, he is still a dirty Mexican trying to steal taxpayer money.

My God. Does the racism of the G.O.P. have a limit?

You can actually see some of the arguments these assholes make on the floor in this episode of The Daily Show. You can also see Representative Anthony Weiner flipping shit over the Republican opposition to the bill. It's awesome. Finally, someone is willing to tell the G.O.P. just how horrible they are acting these days.

Of course, politics being politics, Representative Weiner had to apologize in the New York Times.

But also on view is the fatal flaw of the Democrats.

Democrat Dipshittery: Being fucking wusses.


Instead of being sure to push this bill through because it is important, the Democrats decided to go for a 2/3 majority in order to block the inclusion of the above amendment against illegal immigrants. Why? Because immigration is a hot button issue in an election year.

Frankly, it doesn't matter that the amendment the Republicans were proposing was idiotic and small-minded. It doesn't matter that its racist, or phobic, or anything. Why would you go for 2/3rds? Just hear out the amendment. Vote it down. Then vote for the bill on the standard majority. It would have passed!

But NOOOO, you were worried it would make you look soft on illegal immigration. Are you fucking serious? Get a fucking clue! The American people are not all the blind, mindless sheep that watch the news channels. Most will recognize that a hero is a hero, regardless of how they got to this country, or what color of card they might be holding in their wallets when they SAVE AMERICAN LIVES.

Democrat cowardice defeated this bill that should have been easily won.
