Immigration Quickie

Apparently the esteemed Gov. Jan Brewer has bowed to pressure to alter the Arizona Immigration law. But not really..

The answer to the criticism appears to be some select language on how the police go abouts identifying a potential illegal immigrant; with specific clauses aimed at stopping racial profiling.

Of course, this is running on the rather absurd notion that "if something is written as law, it will occur".

This is laughable. The Declaration of Independence says "All men are created equal...", and it only took 250 years, a civil war, and decades of social unrest to make that statement a reality.

The Bible says "Thou shall not kill." But that hasn't stopped anyone.

So when the Arizona law enforcement officer is told by the law "Don't pull over people just because they look Mexican," it will TOTALLY work.

Ha!

This is just a stop-gap effort to try and keep the unconstitutional Arizona immigration law alive. The conservative whites of Arizona still want a means to get rid of the Mexicans they don't like, and this law is exactly what they have been looking for. They know that making these small edits in language on the law won't change a thing in regards to enforcement, but the useless gesture makes for a political counter-attack. Well done, but your law is still racist.

Hell, the whole law is pointless, anyway. Why make illegal immigration against state law when it's already a federal law? Arizona conservatives are just trying to win political points with their racist, white constituents.

I can understand why the people of Arizona would want to avoid illegal immigrants. But I'll give you a hint: they're the ones with the weed and assault rifles. You know, two items you tend to get arrested for having regardless of your skin color.

But frankly, those aren't the illegal immigrants that the people of Arizona seem to care about. They want to get rid of the people who stand outside Home Depot and hope for a day of work to feed their families, they want to get rid of the street-side merchant of oranges and flowers, again trying to make money to feed their families. These are the people that Arizona hates.
